Spirit - relaxation music, concentration music

spirit Recommended for anxiety, tai chi, improving concentration among maths and science students
Spirit invites you into a controlled state of meditation. An effective tool for people needing to concentrate for long periods, for instance, studying for exams or working to a deadline. Spirit is sparse and pure-sounding, yet lyrical and light. This music was composed and recorded in one, continuous improvisation session, lasting an entire night. The composer and pianist, John Levine, invited people to meditate with him through the night of recording. He became completely entranced in the process and the music clearly reflects his deeply meditative state. Spirit is part of the Silence series of CDs.

Composer and pianist, John Levine, based this work on the centuries–old use of pentatonic and lydian scales. Musical tension builds up slowly with no rush or rough discords. The spherical sounds can bring you to an alpha state within 4 minutes.

John Levine has vast experience as a composer and as a teacher of meditation. He believes that music has a powerful effect on the brain and can be designed to induce specific positive changes in mood and behaviour.

Testimonials

Have you ever come across something that’s so wonderful you just have to share it? A while ago I met John Levine, a musician and composer who after several successful years in commercial music has pursued his belief in meditation and the healing properties of music. He has devoted himself to developing his unique Alphamusic which enables the listener to get into their alpha brainwave state very easily & so de-stress, focus and relax, coping so much better with life!! It’s amazing how calming it can be for lively children and also agitated adults – I recommend you all to check out John’s music. We have found benefits for de-stressing and promoting good sleep patterns, and are very excited about the possibilities of it helping with ADD & ADHD. What a great tool to have at your fingertips! (or in your CD player – but not in the car!!)

I found John’s Alphamusic music very helpful for certain types of clients. I use my intuition to decide whether this client needs that type of music or which CD would be effective for them. I have some clients who have been known to be very stressed or agitated and who needed something very calming or and to allow them to breathe more freely. John’s music creates a very therapeutic and restful atmosphere for them.

Right from the outset, I wasn’t disappointed with John’s music and it started to work almost immediately. My anxiety symptoms including periods of short, rapid breathing began to return to normal. People should be aware that they can find simple, inexpensive solutions to their problems.
