Music to Soothe Big Brother Contestants

Cambridge composer John Levine has a novel suggestion for the stressed out Celebrity Big Brother household. His AlphaMusic pieces, designed to relieve anxiety and stress, are already enjoyed by contestant Caprice and John will offer household members stress-relieving CD's when they emerge from the house. Germaine Greer, who left on Tuesday, will be the first to receive John's CD.

John's music has recently been the subject of scientific research1 into reducing anxiety at the dentist using music. "If my compositions can soothe the nerves of dentists' patients, I'm sure they will be a good way for the Big Brother contestants to wind down after the competition," he says. His SilenceOfMusic website (www.silenceofmusic.com) highlights many other uses for his music, including easing insomnia and overcoming trauma.

Unruly children are also calmed down under the influence of the music. John feels that the childish antics in the house would also disappear - "Luckily for Big Brother the contestants can't listen to my music, as a quiet household would make for terrible TV."
